Films by Youth Inside (FYI) has created a track record of programming successes with at-risk youth.  FYI is currently operated under the fiscal sponsorship of Visual Communications, an established, Los Angeles-based 501(c)3.

Founded in 2003 and supervised by filmmaker Alex Muñoz, the organization is overseen by an Advisory Committee of filmmakers, businesspeople and professionals from the fields of at-risk youth, rehabilitation, education and filmmaking, all of whom have experience in non-profit administration.

The program, designed and administered by Mr. Muñoz, takes place at youth correction facilities operated by the Los Angeles County Probation Department (LACPD), California Youth Authority (CYA) and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) throughout the Southern California area.

More than thirty short films have been produced under the auspices of FYI over five filmmaking cycles.  The films have been screened before diverse audiences at industry facilities, film festivals, community centers and libraries.  The FYI program will be expanded to serve youth in Hawaii in Spring, 2008.
